Valentines Day Fun! A Few Great Arts & Crafts For Kids… Big & Small!
No matter your feelings about Valentines Day as holiday, any excuse to indulge in a special meal, some bubbly, washed down with sweet chocolate treats – oh, and a few extra hugs & kisses! – in the dead of winter is a reason to celebrate! If you’re looking for something creative to do with incredibly lovely results, here are some fun art activities to keep you and your loved ones busy during these short and chilly days.
Valentines Window of Painted Hearts
Get everybody out of that February funk with a few paper doilies and the kid’s favourite colours. Makes for the perfect festive, mid-winter window decorations! Place a doily in a shallow plastic container, add a few blobs of colour and then throw in a ball to roll around to help little fingers spread the paint. Beautiful, messy family fun!
Shaken Painted Hearts
Here’s a great painting activity that keeps all the mess contained inside a pizza box!
If you want your kids to get a little movement – get their shake on! – with super festive and creative fun results with minimal mess this is a no-brainer.
Find a container that can be closed pretty securely. Cut out paper hearts of all sizes from colourful construction, or another heavier weight paper, and tape (double-sided is best) them inside.
Throw in some random small toys that can be cleaned easily – think texture! Add a few blobs of paint, but not directly on the hearts. Close up your container, seal it with tape if you think it’s required.
Shake, shake, shake… shake your booty!!!
Open it up… go at ‘er again if you want. Shake, shake, shake your way to beautiful, active, art!
