Outside of Christmas, autumn offers one of THE best and most fun opportunities to spruce up any space!
Vivid, bold colours; delicious, earthy textures; and themes of harvest and bounty. All make for so much glorious inspiration to create beautiful and festive designs and decor to last through to stringing the ol’ Christmas lights.
More and more we are being asked to stage and decorate spaces – homes, businesses, porches, yards – for a range of reasons. Whether it’s a fall wedding or event or simply a porch to welcome your clients or visitors, this is an exciting aspect of our business.
If you live here full time, we’ve got you covered providing you with decor that you’ll enjoy day in and day out. Part-timers… let us stage your space to welcoming charm for your next arrival!
For inspiration: 4 great ideas you can easily do to welcome autumn to your home, office, porch or garden:
Create a festive garland. Super fun and easy, not to mention a great activity for the kids.
This is a no-sew project that conveniently uses up those pesky fabric swatches you’ve collected and have meant to use. To create this pretty, reusable garland you’ll need:
- Fabric scraps in harvest hues (pick up inexpensive “fat quarters,” or quarter yards of material used for quilting, at any fabric store)
- Fusible interfacing
- An embroidery needle
- An iron
Directions: Sandwich interfacing between two matching fabric squares, and iron — this will give the leaves some stiffness. Snip out as many shapes as you plan to display. With the needle, thread the floss through the stem of each leaf; hang and enjoy! To make things even easier, download our leaf template.
Here’s one we adore! Empty out that marvellous pumpkin and put it to work to create an incredible centrepiece! We can help – bring us your pumpkin and let us fill it with festive fresh flowers to provide weeks of autumn season joy.
Add lanterns! Indoors or out, nothing brings charm and warmth like decorative lanterns. Fill them with a variety of unique textured items, a string of twinkly white LED lights or even candles. Play with multiples as well as combinations of items for beautiful, autumnal effect.
Funky, reusable wood pumpkins. If you’ve got a storage shed or garage, chances are you’ve got the materials for this cute, rustic autumn project.
To make this cute and rustic wooden pumpkin, you simply need scrap 2X6 or 2×4 with a very straight cut bottom so as to be able to stand as well as:
- pumpkin orange paint
- glue gun
Here’s a cute variation, stacking the wood pieces:
Directions: Prime and paint the wood pieces (2 coats). Drill a hole in the top of the wood. Stick the twigs in the holes to provide the stems of your pumpkin. Glue them if you feel they need a little extra to stay in place. Glue leaves in place to the top and tie the raffia to the stems. Make one, or make a whole funky collection.
**Outdoor autumn decor tip:
Choose straw bales rather than hay. This is important because Straw is primarily stems with very little seed. Conversely, hay is full of seed that will sprout and result in pesky weeds that will be difficult to pull.
