Get your Christmas Butterfly to help support the work of our local hospice.

We are so very proud to promote this special campaign.

The fact is, everyone is touched by loss at some point or another in their life.  At Inspire we feel that having a committed hospice group in the community – well-trained and able to assist with all aspects of sickness, death, loss and grief – is so vitally important.

We believe that as human beings we are all connected, no matter who we are or where we come from, and having strong support through illness, death, loss and grief is an integral part of healthy, natural human experience.   There will come a day when we all will need this kind of help and support.  Many of us may rely on the valuable assistance of hospice care, whether for a beloved friend or family member or, indeed, for ourselves.

Alita has had personal and profound personal experience with hospice.  Her Grandma Savard was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer as well as a severe bowel blockage.  In a particularly low time during her sickness she spent time in Hospice House in Vernon, BC.  She had the good fortune of her children coming in and taking turns caring for her during her stay there and, thanks to the exceptional and personal care, Grandma’s condition improved.  She was actually able to leave Hospice House before she relapsed and passed among her loved ones at her daughter’s home a few months later.

In honour of Alita’s grandmother and the many others who have had the good fortune to experience the compassionate and vital care that defines hospice, we invite you to bring a unique and beautiful representation of this important service, perhaps in the name of a loved one, in the form of one of our precious Christmas Butterflies.

The Butterfly is used as a symbol by many hospice societies throughout the world. Butterflies, drawn and carved by children, were discovered on concentration camp walls by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, a pioneer in near-death studies and the author of the groundbreaking book, On Death and Dying.  A butterfly symbolizes the transition between life and death; the caterpillar forms its cocoon and prepares to leave life as he knows it, to transform into a glorious butterfly.

Starting December 1st, we encourage you come on down to get your own Christmas Butterfly!

This beautiful Christmas Butterfly is not only a pretty addition to your Christmas decor, but also a wonderful tribute to the memory of those precious loved ones that are no longer with us.

With a little lace, gold and sparkle, it’s such a pretty decorative item for your home, equipped with a clip on the back that allows you to easily add it to your holiday wreath, your Christmas tree or perhaps a gift.

Please come in to the store and choose the amount you would like to donate (minimum donation of $15), with ALL proceeds to be donated to our local hospice, Hospice Society of the Columbia Valley,  and help them continue their tremendous good work up & down our valley each and every day.
